Tropic Super Greens Review
What is Tropic Super Greens?
Super greens are one of Tropic’s Skincare most well known products.
It has won lots of awards for its incredible results with its complex and scientifically formulated ingredient list.
Super Greens is a serum, meaning it is a little more liquid than say a moisturiser, and should be used primarily for night time.
The reason for this being that serums reach further down into your skin, as the particles in a serum are much smaller than in a moisturiser, working into those deeper layers of skin.
With our skin regenerating between the hours of 11pm-3am, our best beauty products should be saved until an evening to see the full effects.
With our skin being the largest organ in our bodies; super greens are basically a healthy shot of goodness that can be absorbed into the deeper layers of skin boosting your skin’s natural defences and nutrient levels, for a brighter, healthier looking complexion that’s full of vitality.
Much better than eating a salad right?
My Journey with Super Greens:
I have been using super greens for a little over three years and I can confirm this little bottle works little wonders! — the great thing is you only need to use a few drops every day, so it’ll last for ages (around 6 months mine lasts)
I started using Super Greens alongside the ABC collection right from the start, using the super greens on an evening rather than the moisturiser — I use the moisturiser during the daytime.
When I first began using Super Greens it’s very easy to get carried away (you’ll see what I mean). With a brand new skincare routine, if you like me, you tend to want to use it all and can get carried away with the quantities of product used, as I was in the mindset more is definitely more!!
Because of Tropic’ natural and rich formulas that are designed to be used in very small quantities, you only need to start with a couple of drops of the Super Greens to begin with and get your skin used to this new rich product. I have since upped it a little, especially in the winter time where my skin is a little drier and I sometimes use more on random drier patches like around my nose after a cold.
Super Greens has the most unusual smell too out of the Tropic range, with a little hint of curry spices I’ve found. Once on my face and after all this time of using it though I don’t really notice it, just something to bear in mind.
Overall, I have found the constant use of the serum makes my skin brighter (I have always had quite dull looking skin). My skin is less bumpy, with a more even pigmentation. I have quite sensitive skin and this serum seems to settle any irritations I have too. I have more recently added the Elixir oil to my regime, so I tend to do a mixture of elixir one evening and then Super Greens the next. Super Greens is and remains an integral part of my skincare routine.
Ingredients — science behind the product
The ingredient list is vast in this little bottle, packed full of protecting, repairing and soothing ingredients, brilliant for very sensitive skin. Here are just a few hero ingredients that are packing into a single bottle of Super Greens.
The protecting hero ingredients include Vitamin C, Kale and broccoli seed oil which are all rich in antioxidants and work hard to fight against free radicals, protecting your skin against pollutants.
The repairing elements to this serum come from tamanu oil, vitamin E and marula oil, all richly moisturising and help to accelerate cellular repair for refreshed and health looking skin. The tamanu oil is especially great for repairing areas of acne scarring and the healing of blemishes.
The soothing element makes it great for sensitive and irritated skin, which really works for dry skin in the winter and summer when the hay-fever begins both making my skin itchy and irritated — I’m not sure if anyone else has had experience of this, but I feel like I just can’t stop messing an itching my skin? But after putting a couple of drops on after a shower my skin really felt soothed and calm again. This is down to the maca root, sea buckthorn and green coffee oil delivering essential fatty acids to your skin along with anti-inflammatory properties to help with the calming and soothing of the skin.
How and when to use Super Greens
As previously said, I use Super Greens primarily on an evening, where I would use the cleanser, toner and then moisturiser for the day time and then cleanser, toner and super greens for an evening.
If your skin is feeling extra dry you can put the Super Greens on first and then moisturiser on top, but I find this is too much for my skin.
Everyone’s skin is different, so it’s about getting a feel for how your skin responds to these different ingredients and how much to use and when to use, there’s really no right or wrong way to do skincare. Some people I know use a little drop of Super Greens in the morning and then moisturiser, as they feel their make-up sits better — It’s all about tailoring your skin care routine to suit you and your skin, so have fun with it and make skincare a joy not a chore.
Results of using Super Greens
I have touched on my experience of tropic and what it has brought to my skin, but as skin is so unique there are many benefits of using Super Greens in your daily skincare regime. The great thing about this serum is that it is great for all ages, some of Tropics other serums are aimed at ageing skin, spot prone skin, dull looking skin etc. but Super Greens is just a great all round serum, which is why I would say it would be a good one to start with, along with your core ABC collection. Once you get to know how your skin reacts to the ingredients and how much you need you can then start incorporating other serums for areas where your skin might be lacking.
Super Greens provides you with a fresher and brighter-looking complexion. It creates a healthy and youthful looking skin, providing healing
